WebbThe 38-2 is a nice 11 tube model and is a great performer, well worth the effort to restore it. For 1938 you had the top dog 38-690 with 20 tubes, the 38-116 with 15 tubes, the 38-1 with 12 tubes, the 38-2 with 11 tubes. So for 1938 the 38-2 was one of Philco's top dog tube count radio and you don't see them in larger numbers.
