WebJun 19, 2024 · The knot is a bit of a problem through micro guides but I tend not to go with rods that use micro guides. I am looking for a new knot for 40lb braid to 20lb to minimize the knot size. Hook the loop over a cleat and lightly tension the line. Pinch the leader perpendicular to the braid about 8" from the loop knot and make 20 tight wraps, no gaps. Keep in mind the diameter of the mono is so much bigger than the braid. Since the mono comes off the reel first, you almost don’t feel the connection coming through the guides.
