WebThe Murray Hospital Hospice was the first hospital-based hospice in the state of Kentucky to apply for and receive a Certificate of Need (CON) required to operate this type of service. It was approved on November 19, 1980. All of the initial staff were volunteer workers as there was no reimbursement at this time from Medicare or other providers.
